Aftercare is a critical component of recovery following Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) for substance abuse. It ensures that individuals continue receiving support, guidance, and relapse prevention strategies as they transition into independent living.

 

What Does Aftercare Include?

 

Aftercare programs typically involve:

 

Ongoing therapy (individual or group counseling) as needed,

Relapse prevention education (coping strategies for triggers) as needed,

Sober living arrangements (structured environments for continued recovery) if the participant is in need of transitional arrangements,

 

Support groups (Meeting with members of the Treatment Team to receive supportive information),

Life skills training (employment assistance, financial planning, and relationship-building)
