 Recognizing the signs of alcohol use disorder is crucial in determining whether rehab is necessary. While alcohol abuse can start mildly, it can escalate quickly, leading to serious physical and mental health consequences.

 

Signs You May Need Alcohol Rehab

 

  • Drinking in secrecy or isolation.
  • Feeling hungover when not drinking.

Screening for Alcohol Use Disorder

 

One Common tool used in alcohol rehab center is the CAGE questionaire,

which consists of four questions:

 

  • Have you ever felt you needed to Cut down on your drinking?
  • Have people Annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?
  • Have you ever felt Guilty about drinking?
  • Have you ever needed a drink first thing in the morning (Eye-opener) to

           steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover?

 

If you answer YES to at least two of these questions, seeking treatment at an

alcohol rehab center may be beneficial.

Appetite loss, malnutrition, and weight loss.

Liver cirrhosis and high blood pressure.

Increased risk of cancer (mouth, throat, liver).

Safe Detox in Alcohol Rehab Centers

Since alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, medically supervised

detox is often necessary.

 

Common withdrawal symptoms include:

 

Sweating, shaking, seizures, and hallucinations.

Medications used in detox include:

Naltrexone (reduces alcohol cravings).

Acamprosate (eases withdrawal symptoms).

Benzodiazepines (reduces anxiety and psychological distress).
